Abstract

The DARC - Digital Architecture Representation and Communication project aims to respond to a need in the Creative Industries market: the articulation of broadband digital technologies and podcasting with various communication strategies and collaborative work in the areas of architecture and urban design, graphic design, web design, heritage, cultural tourism, among others.

The objectives of the DARC project are therefore to research and produce a product for (i) structuring, representation, promotion and dissemination of various contents aimed at the Creative Industries, Environment and Spatial Planning and Cultural Tourism market, and (ii) structuring and sharing of information as well as interactive representation for collaborative work in the Construction (Architecture and Urbanism), Design and University Education (related to the arts) industries.

In the scope of this project in co-promotion (Ref. NORTE-07-0202-FEDER-005604), an exhaustive survey of the type of platforms or information supports used in the teaching market for architecture and arts, collaborative work applications was carried out, having as general objectives to identify and characterise the most relevant applications for this aspect, analysing them critically in order to identify their weaknesses and added values. It was also incorporated into this analysis the articulation with other strands regarding management and collaborative work operators that could help provide a more effective response for teaching applications for architecture and arts. Based on this study, a reference information matrix was prepared for the development of the DARC COLABORATIVE application for this branch of architecture and arts teaching. Specific questionnaires were designed for DARC ENSINO DE ARQUITECTURA E ARTES, and sent via Internet to all institutions in Portugal with architecture courses, as well as to a large number of architecture courses at an international level.
