Nuno Filipe Ferreira was the artist selected by FAUP lecturer Pedro Leão Neto to take part in Project Rooms in 2023, a project of the Porto Photography Biennial that supports the creation of portfolios and promotes meetings and networking opportunities between emerging artists and arts professionals.
Nuno Filipe Ferreira's work, entitled 'Fragmentos Metro Opo' (Metro Opo Fragments), is based on the premise that the "city is a being in constant mutation and brings together a mesh of realities which, inhabiting the same physical space, flow and intersect in a permanent game of interdependent oppositions or complementarities". As Nuno Filipe Ferreira explains, this is "something that becomes apparent through urban transport systems such as Porto's metro system, which functions as an important instrument for transforming urban spaces while at the same time being a catalyst for new dynamics and experiences."
Nuno Filipe Ferreira completed his Integrated Master's Degree in Architecture at FAUP in 2023, with the dissertation 'Fragments: Perception of Space through Photography'.
The artists Catarina Braga, Nuno Ferreira, Mário Santos, Paulo Malafaya, Rita Queiroz and Rita Silva were nominated by the photography teachers from the partner faculties of the Porto Photography Biennial: Susana Lourenço Marques and José Carneiro (Faculdade de Belas Artes da Universidade do Porto), Carlos Lobo (Escola das Artes Católica Porto), João Leal (ESMAD I Escola Superior de Media Artes e Design), Pedro Leão Neto (Faculdade de Arquitectura da Universidade do Porto), Rogério Taveira (Faculdade de Belas-Artes da Universidade de Lisboa), Rui Lourosa (Escola Superior Artistica Do Porto).
The Porto Photography Biennial is organized and produced by Ci.CLO and funded by Porto City Council and the Portuguese Republic - Culture / Directorate-General for the Arts.
