Open Class of the UCs CAAD I, II e FACT "Sobreposições entre o real e a ficção: a memória, a fotografia e a colagem enquanto instrumentos de pensar a cidade e a arquitetura" with Raquel LagoaCycle Arquitectura, Arte e Imagem
On Tuesday, March 14, at 2:30 pm, at Sala do Janelão, it will take place the open class integrated in the cycle of Conferences, Debates and Open Classes Architecture, Art and Image and entitled 'Overlaps between reality and fiction: memory, photography and collage as instruments to think the city and architecture' with the architect Raquel Lagoa, graduated from FAUP in 2021, in the scope of the curricular units of Communication of Architecture Project and Photography (CAAD I, II), of the 1st cycle. (CAAD I, II), of the 1st cycle, and Photography of Architecture, City and Territory (FACT), of the 2nd cycle.
In the session, Raquel Lagoa will address the theme of thinking through the image as a driver of criticism of the city and architecture, supported by her Master's dissertation 'Fragments of city, images of architecture, space and memory', Special Mention of the Archiprix prize in 2022 and target of other publications of the U.Porto, as Alumni little Books. In an approach to the experimental condition of the architecture studio, the presented project rehearses a photography laboratory where images and ideas are manipulated, giving body to an exercise of its own authorship. From the house to the world, from paper to public space, fragmentary experiences are displayed, among the web of contradictions of the real, reflecting the multidisciplinary demands of an architectural project.
The class is open to the entire academic community, being, however, especially directed to students of CAAD I, II and FACT curricular units.
Raquel Lagoa was born in Figueira da Foz, in 1996. She is an architect by the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Porto (2021), having attended a semester at the Belleville School of Architecture in Paris (2019). Experiences that inevitably contaminated a multidisciplinary path between architecture, photography and literature. Parallel to drawing, writing has proved to be as valid a project tool as drawing, having authored several articles published in: Fundación Arquia Blog (Barcelona), MA Magazine (Faup, Porto), Nu Magazine (Darq, Coimbra), Scopio Editions (Porto) and Esad-idea (Porto). In her dissertation she started an investigation that allies reasoning through writing with communication through image, contributing to the construction of a critical discourse that aims to decode the enigma of the real, where architecture and city converge through their fragments.
