The Morphologies and Dynamics of the Territory group of FAUP's Center for the Study of Architecture and Urbanism and the Municipality of Vila Nova de Foz Côa organize the 5th edition of the workshop 'Family Architects', coordinated and guided by Aitor Varea Oro, Cynthia El-Dash, Teresa Calix (FAUP), and Ana Filipe (Municipality of Vila Nova de Foz Côa).

The workshop takes place from September 10 to 16, in Vila Nova de Foz Côa, and from September 18 to 22, in FAUP. It is aimed at final-year students (4th and 5th year of MIArq) interested in acquiring skills in the areas of housing with public support, territorial cohesion and green transition.

The work to be developed will serve as a basis for submitting applications to the 1st Right - Support Program for Access to Housing, inserted in the Recovery and Resilience Plan and directed to the most vulnerable populations. The workshop will anticipate a meeting to be held in October 2023 on the importance of thinking about the development of low intensity territories and local communities.

Registration is free, limited to 12 participants, by prior registration and in order of arrival until July 17 through the registration form* (includes round trip Porto - Pocinho, accommodation at the High Performance Center / Agricultural School - to be confirmed - and meals during the stay in Vila Nova de Foz Côa).

Contents to be addressed

- Housing indignity, housing policy instruments and the challenge of the interior. From Local Housing Strategies to the challenges of territorial cohesion under the Recovery and Resilience Plan.- The space of architecture in housing policy. The technical expertise and the challenge of articulating all stakeholders to enable the practice of architecture in situations of exclusion.- The Local Housing Strategy of Vila Nova de Foz Coa. Identified problems, housing solutions and difficulties of operationalization: a reading from the municipality.- Technical guidelines for the definition of projects. Project with the climate, dialogue with the urban environment, enhance the heritage, represent and quantify the solutions to finance.
