Azar Mohammadpanah

Azar Mohammadpanah is an architect and a current Ph.D. candidate at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Porto (FAUP, 2020). She earned her second Master's Degree in Architectural Design and History from the Polytechnic of Milan (Polo Territoriale di Mantova, 2019) .Her research interests include architectural heritage and history, housing and urban context, practices, and policies in transforming urban residential areas. She also explores novel perspectives on the relations between public and private spaces, contemporary waterfront cities, rehabilitation of urban heritage and the current challenges faced by contemporary cities. Additionally, she has a keen interest in the preservation of history of modern heritage and sustainable intervention. She is currently developing her Ph.D. dissertation, focusing on the contemporary challenges of heritage in waterfront cities concerning climate change. She has previously served as a research fellow in the Housing Think Tank: Knowledge Integration on Multi-family Residential Buildings (HoTT) at CEAU: Centro de Estudos de Arquitetura e Urbanismo/Faculdade de Arquitectura da Universidade do Porto under the supervision of professors Rui Ramos and Gisela Lameira. In 2023, she won the scholarship within CEAU's strategic project (UIDB/00145/2020); developed under the research “Well-Balanced Energy Housing: Reasoning method towards interventions crossing Heritage, Efficiency, and Comfort” (WellBEH) supervised by professors Rui Póvoas and Luciana Rocha.
