The Local Housing Strategy for Vila Nova de Foz Côa provides the acquisition for rehabilitation of 19 properties with historical and cultural value, with the dual aim of providing decent housing for the most vulnerable population and promoting good intervention practices that can be replicated in the future. The location of these properties, in a territory that is twice classified as a World Heritage Site, as well as the constraints imposed by the Recovery and Resilience Plan in terms of deadlines and execution values, require the mobilisation of diversified and specialised technical and scientific knowledge.

FAUP intends to respond to these challenges by liaising with CEFA and CEAU, specifically the research groups: Territory Dynamics and Morphologies; Housing architectural design and forms of dwelling; Architecture, City and Territory Heritage; Architecture: Theory, Project and History. This collaboration will make it possible to develop architectural projects in an integrated manner, advocating a joint and simultaneous approach to several buildings that will result in a coherent methodology for intervention in the heritage and the creation of the necessary conditions to speed up execution, reducing costs without compromising quality.
