Professor Rui Póvoas will be awarded the title of Professor Emeritus of the University of Porto during the University Day celebrations on 24 March 2025. This distinction is intended to recognise his academic and scientific career, namely ‘for his action and prestige acquired in his academic and scientific field and for his contribution to the national and international projection of the U.Porto’.

With this distinction, Professor Rui Póvoas joins the group of emeritus professors at FAUP, along with Professors Alexandre Alves Costa, Domingos Tavares, Manuel Fernandes de Sá, Nuno Portas and Sergio Fernandez.

Since the title of Professor Emeritus was created in 2004, the University of Porto has honoured 97 professors and researchers.
