Porto City Council Medal of Merit Teresa Calix and Nuno Valentim

July 10th, 2024

FAUP professors Teresa Calix, Vice-Director of the Faculty, and Nuno Valentim were distinguished this Tuesday, July 9, with the Municipal Medal of Merit - Gold Degree awarded by the Porto City Council to "natural or legal persons (...) who have distinguished themselves by their merits or civic achievements" on behalf of the city.

The list of recipients of the Municipal Medal of Merit - Gold Grade also included landscape architect Paulo Farinha Marques (FCUP), a lecturer in FAUP's Doctoral Program in Architecture.

Architect Ana Aragão, a former FAUP student, was also honored with the Municipal Medal of Merit.

The Vice-Rector for Culture and Museums at the University of Porto, Fátima Vieira, and Professors Emeritus Fátima Marinho, Pedro Guedes de Oliveira and Manuel Matos Fernandes, were four of the more than two dozen personalities linked to the U.Porto who were distinguished with the Porto Municipal Medals.

The ceremony to award the municipal medals is an annual event organized by the Porto City Council to pay tribute, on behalf of the city, to personalities and entities that stand out for their merits or civic achievements. As usual, it was up to the Mayor, Rui Moreira, and the President of the Municipal Assembly, Sebastião Feyo de Azevedo (former Rector of U.Porto), to hand out the medals, in the presence of the entire municipal executive.
