'A bridge is going to appear here. Now what? How to predict its effects on the heritage of the Massarelos Valley' with Pedro Murilo Freitas Conversations under the bridge

On 6 May at 3pm, the Electric Car Museum will host a talk entitled ‘A bridge is going to appear here. Now what? How can we predict its effects on the heritage of the Massarelos Valley?’, with researcher Pedro Murilo Freitas (CEAU-FAUP).

During the talk, Pedro Murilo Freitas will present a Heritage Impact Analysis carried out by the UNESCO Chair ‘Heritage Cities and Landscapes’. Sustainable Management, Conservation, Planning and Design’. The study focuses on the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Porto - classified as a national monument since 2023 - and serves as a starting point for reflecting on the effects that the new infrastructure could have on the heritage, urban and social context of the valley

This event is part of the Massarelos Valley Observatory, an initiative of the Electric Car Museum in partnership with the Housing Programme, the Massarelos Residents' Association and the Student Technical Support Office (GATE), with the aim of involving the community to discuss the impacts that the bridge will have on local commerce, cultural institutions and the daily lives of residents, in meetings that take place every month.

This event is part of the activities of the Massarelos Valley Observatory, an initiative of the Electric Car Museum in partnership with the Habitar Programme, the Massarelos Residents' Association and the Student Technical Support Office (GATE). With monthly meetings, the Observatory aims to involve the local community in public discussion about the impacts of the new bridge, namely on commerce, cultural institutions and the daily lives of local residents.
