24th October 2024, Thursday, 6.30pm, Fernando Távora Auditorium
The presentation session for the 3rd edition of the book ‘Introduction to the Study of the History of Portuguese Architecture’ by architect Francisco Barata Fernandes, published by FAUPpublicações, will take place on 24 October at 6.30pm in the Fernando Távora Auditorium.
The session will be attended by Remo Dorigati, author of the new preface, Gisela Lameira and Mariana Sá.
In this work, the current architectural work is itself and its programme, itself and the city in which it is located, itself and the series of which it is part.(...) the aim is to deepen architectural and urbanistic knowledge about the city and about some of the types of residential building that characterise its urban form, recognising that the information gathered serves as operative design material. In other words, as material that can be used in a specific project.
This book presents the research work carried out by Francisco Barata Fernandes to obtain his PhD, defended in 1996 at FAUP.
This 3rd edition includes the preface to the previous edition by Daniele Vitale and a new preface by Remo Dorigati. Transformation and Permanence in Porto's Housing is the sixth volume in Series 1, a collection by FAUP Publicações, with editorial direction by Manuel Mendes. This edition was coordinated by João Pedro Xavier and Filipa Guerreiro with the support of Rodrigo Coelho.
The book has the support of Porto City Council, the Marques da Silva Foundation and the Consolato Onorario d'Italia ad Oporto.
This event may be recorded and publicised by FAUP through photography and video.
FAUP does not issue attendance declarations or online attendance of the event.
