Dan Graham was a fan of architecture and architecture schools are fans of Dan Graham. On his many visits to Portugal, the artist never stopped dialoguing with local architecture, visiting architecture schools and sharing ideas with students. He insisted that the best school was the museum, and that dialog was a better way to learn than academic formalism.

To continue learning from Dan Graham, FAUP incorporated the Not Post-Modernism exhibition into its debates, visiting the exhibition and making it the center of many cross-eyes through group work on each of the architectures on display. Choices were questioned, relationships and more general themes were speculated on, and above all, the excitement and surprises of encounters with recent and less recent architectures, which don't always appear on the radar of school debates, were shared.

And to continue learning from Dan Graham, the architecture students now propose to share these enthusiasms in the museum, through a series of counter-visits to the exhibition, organized sequentially and case by case, in an opportunity to wander through the many critical constructions that only happen in sharing, or in meeting the audience, as Dan Graham would say.

The next visit with the 4th grade students from MIArq will take place this Saturday, March 9, between 2pm and 6pm, and is open to all Serralves visitors who would like to take part.
