Party I Love Távora Closing of the Távora 100 Programme
18th September 2024, Wednesday, 4.30pm, Quinta da Conceição Municipal Park, Leça da Palmeira, Matosinhos
The ‘I Love Távora’ party marks the culmination of the ‘Távora 100’ programme, which celebrated the centenary of the birth of the architect Fernando Távora (1923-2005), a figure inseparable from the ‘Escola do Porto’ and Portuguese architecture. It also marks the opening of the 2024.2025 academic year of the architecture schools. It aims to be a moment of fun, celebration, sharing and bringing together the students and teachers of the various schools; in particular the three marked in their genesis, in different ways, by the teachings of Fernando Távora - the FAUP (1979), the DARQ of the University of Coimbra (1988) and the EAAD of the University of Minho (1996). It also aims to be a meeting place for schools, the architectural community and citizens in general.

This Festival evokes and takes up the name and place of the Festival organised in 2006 by the Northern Regional Section of the Order of Architects with the support of Matosinhos City Council as part of the ‘I Love Távora’ programme. The name was chosen because the architect Fernando Távora, known for his sense of humour, one day, around 1981(?), at the end of a conference, distributed T-shirts with this inscription to the audience. At the party in 2006, 45 copies of the original T-shirts were raffled off, Fernando Távora's number as a Member of the Order of Architects.
