Orientation Talks 1 ‘(Re)Thinking the House: living during the COVID-19 pandemic’ with Maria Franca and Ana Alves Costa (supervisor) UC Dissertation open class [MIArq]
11 October 2024, Friday, 11h00, Library Auditorium + videoconference
Taking the master's dissertation ‘(Re)Pensar a Casa: do habitar durante a pandemia COVID-19’ as a starting point, we propose a cross-talk between two complicit voices: student - Maria Franca, FAUP alumna, Integrated Master's Degree in Architecture completed in 2023; and supervisor - Ana Alves Costa.
The Guidance Conversations cycle aims to encourage reflection and debate around different interests, themes and methodological strategies that involve the problem of the dissertation in a transversal and comprehensive way; it also seeks to reveal aspects relating to the processes and dynamics between students and supervisors, built up over time; these sessions have always shown enormous adherence and various contributions, allowing students who are beginning their journey to find parallels with their concerns, providing greater ease in raising questions and doubts.
The session will take place at 11am, in the Library Auditorium, with access via zoom, and is aimed at students enrolled in the Dissertation curricular unit.Maria Franca (Lisbon, 1998) completed her master's degree in Architecture at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Porto in 2023, with the dissertation ‘(Re)Pensar a Casa: do habitar durante a pandemia COVID-19’. In June 2024, she took part in the European Research on Architecture and Urbanism International Conference with the theme ‘In-Presence / The Body and The Space - The role of corporeity in the era of virtualisation’. Since March 2024, she has been working at Atelier in.vitro in Porto.
