This conference introduces the latest research by architect Caroline Voet, professor at the Faculty of Architecture at the KU Leuven, which has materialised in a new book exploring the housing projects of a Benedictine monk, a cult figure in post-war architecture - Dom Hans van der Laan (1904-1991).
Organised by André Tavares, on the occasion of the jury for Lera Samovich's doctoral thesis.

A House to Live With.
Caroline Voet is Associate Professor of Design, History and Theory at the Faculty of Architecture of KU Leuven and runs the studio VOET Architectuur in Antwerp, Belgium. She investigates contemporary issues in the field of architecture, with an emphasis on design methodology, heritage and creative reuse, dissecting buildings, drawings and architectural processes. His academic research work has been published in several international journals, including ARQ (Cambridge University Press) and Interiors (Routlegde). His book Dom Hans van der Laan. A House for the Mind received the DAM Architectural Book of the Year Award 2018. She co-edited the book Autonomous Architecture in Flanders (2016) and The Hybrid Practitioner; Building, Teaching, researching Architecture (2022). At VOET she crosses the boundaries between architecture, conversion, scenography and curating, creating projects such as Dublin Castle, the Flanders Institute of Architecture and the Singapore Arts Centre.
