An international selection procedure is open until August 21, 2024, with a view to hiring an Entry-Level PhD to carry out research activities, among others, within the scope of the 'Project 101125057 -IDSCAPES. Building Identity: Religious Architecture and Sacral Landscapes of Christian Minorities in India and Bangladesh', funded by the European Commission - Horizon Europe, underway at FAUP.
Coordinated by researcher Sidh Losa Mendiratta, "the ID-SCAPES project focuses on the Portuguese-influenced cultural heritage associated with Christian minorities in India and Bangladesh, a heritage that is transcultural, multifaceted and sometimes contested, but always essential to the history, identity and resilience of these same minorities". The main objective of ID-SCAPES, which focuses on South Asia, investigating over five years the cultural and religious heritage built before the 19th century in India and Bangladesh, is "to produce a Social History of the Architecture of medieval and early-modern churches and sacralized landscapes in India and Bangladesh, revealing the influences of different agencies, identities and traditions on the various scales and dimensions of the built ensembles".
The candidate to be selected will participate, among other activities, in the design, development and execution of the research and development of the project and related scientific and technical activities, in accordance with the task plan defined in the ID-SCAPES work program, and in the coordination of the work of synthesis, editing and publication of results, and in the activities of dissemination and transfer of knowledge, in accordance with the project's task plan.
The work will be carried out on an exclusive basis, at CEAU-FAUP's premises or at any other locations necessary for carrying out the project's activities, performing the duties for which they are contracted and/or indispensable to their professional training.
Applicants must hold a PhD in Architecture, completed no more than 5 years ago (up to the closing date of the application period), and have a scientific and professional curriculum in the scientific areas of this call for applications, which reveals a profile appropriate to the activities to be carried out.
Special Admission Requirements
Content of the selection of up to 2 publications considered most relevant in the scientific areas of the competition, namely: Architecture and Urbanism;
Experience in research activities in the scientific areas of the competition, namely: Architecture and Urbanism.
Preferential Selection Requirements
Skills in graphic and image editing software, word processing, and data systematization and interpretation, among others.
