Maria Inês Vieira Rodrigues

Maria Inês Vieira Rodrigues (Tomar, Portugal, December 29, 1988). She completed her Integrated Master's Degree in Architecture in 2012 at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Porto. During her academic career, she attended the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne in Switzerland under the Erasmus Program (2010-2011). In 2018/09, she started her PhD in Architecture at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Porto and has been a PhD Research Fellow - FCT since 2020/09 (Scholarship awarded in the national competition). Her research focuses on the production of insular territories, particularly the relationship between land, space and the sea. She has been a collaborator member of the Center for Architecture and Urbanism Studies (CEAU-FAUP) since 2020/01, in the Morphologies and Dynamics of the Territory (MDT) research group. She has 3 book chapters and 1 book, titled "Rabo de Peixe: Society and Urban Form", published by Caleidoscópio in 2016, with public presentations at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Porto, at Arquipélago - Centro de Artes Contemporâneas, in Ribeira Grande, Azores, and at Casa dos Açores in Lisbon. She worked for around 8 years in architectural offices between Portugal and France. She was an architect at M-Arquitectos (Ponta Delgada, 2013-2014) and Feld architecture (Paris, 2015). Still in the French capital, she was part of the DDA architectes team (2015-2016) where she worked on intervention projects in 20th century French heritage, in particular the rehabilitation and conservation of Villa E-1027 (Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, France), designed by Eileen Gray and Jean Badovici; and the emergency and maintenance work on Le Corbusier's Unités de Camping. In the same office, she developed the design phase and supervised the construction of a detached house in Meudon, France, which was awarded the French Archinovo Prize in 2017. She was part of the SUMMARY office (Porto, 2017-2020) where, in addition to being an architect and project manager, she was also part of the artistic direction of the exhibition using virtual reality entitled "The Reasons Offsite", with the participation of Pedro Ignacio Alonso, Pablo Jimenez-Moreno, Jorge Christie and Yona Friedman. She was awarded the Fernando Távora Prize, in its 18th edition, in October 2022, with the proposal "Journey to Insular Energy Architectures". She works in the Humanities with an emphasis on the Arts with an emphasis on Architecture and Design.
