February 5th, 2024
Eduardo Souto de Moura, architect and former FAUP professor, was awarded the insignia of Commander of Arts and Letters for his "remarkable inventive capacity and technical genius at the service of various projects in Portugal, France and the world".
This is the highest distinction awarded by the French Ministry of Culture, created in 1957, which recognizes "personalities who have distinguished themselves by their artistic or literary creations or by the contribution they have made to the influence of the arts and letters in France and in the world".
The insignia of "Commandeur des Arts et des Letres" to Eduardo Souto de Moura were presented by the French ambassador to Portugal, Hélène Farnaud-Defromont, at a ceremony that took place on January 30 at the embassy building in Lisbon.
