Teresa Cunha Ferreira holds a degree in Architecture at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Porto (FAUP) and an European PhD in Architecture on the Polytechnic of Milan (Study cycle: Architectural Heritage Preservation; co-supervision with FAUP, 2009; Grant Polimi/FCT). She has professional experience in the General Directorate for Buildings and National Monuments (DGEMN, Portugal) and in the Superintendence for Architectural and Landscape Heritage of Milan (SPABMI, Italy), among other collaborations, consultancy and projects. Since 2007, she has been teaching in the fields of architectural design, history, theories and architectural heritage at the Polytechnic of Milan (2007/2008), Lusíada University (2009/2010), School of Architecture of the University of Minho (2009 a 2017) and FAUP (2012-present). Moreover, she was a single lecturer of more than 40 master classes in Portuguese and international Universities. She has also been supervising academic thesis, namely Master and Phd thesis. In 2009, she joined the Centre for Studies in Architecture (CEAU-FAUP), where she has been consolidating her career as an independent researcher, namely through a FCT Post-doctoral grant (2010-2015, CEAU-FAUP), FCT Scientific Employment (2015-2019; 2019-present), and where she is a Principal Investigator with the coordination of research projects, as well as by networking and scientific dissemination, at national and international level. She has been disseminating research through over 100 publications, including books, book chapters, articles in peer reviewed journals, papers in conferences proceedings and other publications. She has delivered over 50 oral communications by invitation, including plenary talks. She has been coordinating funded research projects such as the Keeping it Modern Grant -Ocean Swimming Pool (PI, Getty Foundation, 2020-2023), Siza ATLAS: Filling the gaps for World Heritage (co-PI; FCT, 2021-2024), Atlas of Architectural Heritage Design: contributions from the School of Porto (PI, FCT, 2022-2024), From CURE to CARE: sustainable strategies for preventive conservation and maintenance (PI, FCT, 2015-2019), Management Plan for the Conservation and Valorization of the Monuments of the Rota do Românico (PI, EU-ERDF, Rota do Românico; 2015-2018), Architecture Coordination of Romanesque Encyclopaedia in Portugal (Fondacion de Santa Maria de La Real, 2018-2021), HeritageCARE - Monitoring and preventive conservation of historical and cultural heritage (Interreg SUDOE, 1.6M, 2016-2019) and Heritage Values Characterization and Diagnosis for the Municipal Masterplan of Porto (Municipality of Porto, 2016-2019), consultant on the Management and Sustainability Plan for the Historic Centre of Porto (FEUP-CMP, under the Project AtlasS.WH, 2020-2021), among others. Since 2019, she is the Chair Holder of the UNESCO Chair Heritage, Cities and Landscapes. Sustainable Management, Conservation, Planning and Design, and she has the Executive Coordination of Alvaro Siza's serial nomination for the World Heritage List. Moreover, she has been expanding her internationalization degree as an active member in organizations for built heritage conservation, namely ICOMOS (National Direction board; member in 2 International Scientific Committees), UNESCO Chair/UNITWIN Network, EAAE- Network Conservation, DOCOMOMO, among others. Also, she has been providing referee services in indexed Journals and in Scientific Committees of over 20 International Conferences. She also been involved in the organization of national and international Conferences and Seminars, Exhibitions and Workshops.
