Susana Ventura is an architect, graduating from Coimbra University (FCTUC) in 2003. Holding a Ph.D. in Philosophy-Aesthetics from the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences of Nova University Lisbon (FCSH-UNL) earned in 2013, her thesis titled "Architecture's Body without Organs" was completed under the scientific supervision of José Gil. During her Ph.D. project, she conducted research residencies at the architecture studios of Diller Scofidio + Renfro (New York), Lacaton & Vassal (Paris), and Peter Zumthor (Haldenstein). She was awarded a four-year doctoral grant by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) from 2007 to 2011. Currently, Susana is a contracted researcher at the Centre of Studies of Architecture and Urbanism of The Faculty of Architecture of the University of Porto (CEAU-FAUP). She also serves as co-editor-in-chief of CEAU-FAUP's scientific journal "Project: Research — O.porto School of Architecture Research Journal." Additionally, she held positions as an invited assistant professor at the Department of History of Art of the Nova University of Lisbon (2022-2023), the School of Architecture, Art and Design of the University of Minho (2018-2022), and the Department of Architecture of the University of Évora (2019-2021). In 2014, Susana received the Fernando Távora Prize, enabling her to undertake an expedition to Japan, Switzerland, Austria, the Czech Republic, Sweden, and Norway. During the same year, she integrated the Official Portuguese Representation at the 14th Venice Architecture Biennale. Alongside her scientific and pedagogical pursuits, she engages in research-based curatorial practice. Susana is also a critic of architecture and art, holding memberships in the International Association of Art Critics (AICA) and the International Committee of Architectural Critics (CICA). Since 2020, she has been the author of the radio program "Spatial Aphorisms" for Rádio Antecâmara, dedicated to exploring the intersections between architecture, literature, poetry, and cinema. Her book "Interferências: Arquitectura como Multiplicidade" (Interferences: Architecture as Multiplicity) was published this year, 2024, by Circo de Ideias.
