FAUP students presented their work at Madrid International Architecture Week Madrid International Architecture Week

October 20, 2025

FAUP took part in Madrid International Architecture Week, which this year had Portugal as its guest country. Under the title ‘Vivienda, Ciudad, Territorio’, three projects developed by students of the Integrated Master's Degree in Architecture (MIArq) were presented, carried out in the third, fourth, and fifth years of the course, reflecting the topics covered in the Project and Master's Dissertation courses throughout the 2024/2025 academic year.

The work ‘Habitar o quarteirão – planeamento urbano e habitação plurifamiliar’ (Living in the neighborhood – urban planning and multi-family housing), by student Marta Barbosa, under the guidance of Professor Marta Rocha, developed in the Project 3 course unit, explores the dynamics of housing.

In the Project 4 course unit, the proposal ‘Fishing neighborhood urban front – sea front’, developed by Cecilia Trotz under the guidance of Professor Francisco Vieira de Campos, proposes a reflection on large public facilities and their relationship with the city.

Finally, the Master's Thesis, entitled ‘Border Territories, Meeting Places’, written by then-student Patrícia Reis and supervised by Professors Carla Garrido de Oliveira and Filipa de Castro Guerreiro, addresses issues of territorial scale, reflecting on the boundaries and articulations between different geographical and social contexts.

Madrid International Architecture Week is an event organized by the Official College of Architects of Madrid (COAM), the COAM Architecture Foundation, and the Madrid City Council, in collaboration with the Community of Madrid. Held annually during the first week of October, this initiative aims to bring architecture closer to citizens and enhance architectural heritage, providing a privileged space for sharing and dialogue on contemporary architecture.
