November 21, 2025

On November 19, the inauguration ceremony of Ana Tostões, architect and guest lecturer of the Doctoral Program in Architecture - PDA at FAUP, as a Member of the Académie d'Architecture took place in Paris.

The ceremony was marked by the conference ‘La modernité portugaise. À la recherche du temps perdu suivi du temps retrouvé’, given by Ana Tostões, with a presentation by Pablo Katz and Christiane Schmuckle-Mollard.

With this distinction, the architect joins a group of personalities who have distinguished themselves in the field of architecture, alongside architects widely recognized for their contribution to the discipline, such as Rafael Moneo, Jean Nouvel, Tadao Ando, Renzo Piano, Gonçalo Byrne, Paulo David, Álvaro Siza, and Eduardo Souto de Moura.

In 2024, Ana Tostões had already been awarded the ‘Médaille de la critique et des publications, Prix Académie d’Architecture’, given to personalities who have contributed to the enrichment of architectural debate through their writings, publications, and research.

Created in 1671 by Colbert, the Académie d’Architecture's mission is to promote the quality of architecture and urban planning, the teaching of the discipline, and the preservation of documentation relevant to the history of architecture and architects.
