The 7th edition of the Family Architects workshop, organized by the Centre for Architecture and Urbanism Studies (CEAU-FAUP), the Habitar project and the Student Technical Support Office (GATE), will be held from September 1 to 5 and 8 to 12, 2025, on the islands of São Victor, in Porto (Rua de São Victor, Bonfim).
Based on the premise of ‘learning by being useful’, the workshop proposes a training experience in a real work context, focusing on the rehabilitation of the islands of Porto and the production of technical knowledge with a social impact.
Over the two weeks, participants will have the opportunity to:
Carry out socio-spatial surveys and process the data collected with a view to producing relevant information for public policies;
Develop rehabilitation proposals with an urban and financial framework, with the aim of improving the living conditions of residents;
Explore regulatory and urban planning tools to boost the impact of interventions on the territory.
The work developed in this workshop will later be made available in a structured form to support political decision-making in the S. Victor area.
The workshop will be led by Aitor Varea Oro and Marta Sousa. The full program, with timetables and guests, will be announced shortly.

The workshop is aimed at architecture students.

Conditions for participation:
To be enrolled in an Architecture course;
Availability for the days of the workshop (September 1-5 and 8-12);
Have the means to travel to the S. Victor area (accessible by bus and metro);
